How many hours does it take to break in a 4-wheeler?
I tend to go 10 hours of use before I really ride it hard and a total of 20 hours before riding it "normally." I also change the oil after the first 20 hours, unless the manual says to do it sooner.
I also like to check the valves after the first ten hours, and again at 20.

Break-in depends on whether the motor is a 2-stroke or a 4-stroke. There are a lot of opinions of break-in on a 2-stroke. Most 4-stroke break-ins say to stay below 1/2 throttle for the first 5 - 10 hours and vary the RPMs. I can't remember where to find recommended break-ins on 2-strokes. But I bet some of the good engine builders on here can help you out.
