Yes but for the extra 100 pounds you get disc brakes, true 4 wheel drive, water cooling, extra 150cc motor size, on demand 2 to 4 wheel drive now is that 100 pounds really all that imprortant...

OK. I'll settle a few things right now. Engine braking is now standard on late model 2000 magnum 500s. I have it, and I asked my dealer if it's still available standard...It is. As for the ride comfort, it's the closest thing to a SP500 for a lot cheaper. I've had a 5'x8' trailer loaded with firewood 3' high also. I can honestly say the engine never once was stressed. It's one heck of a ride on a Mag too. You can powerslide with the axle as oppossed to the IRS. Ive got big ruts all over my property from slidin around!! It's a blast! Also, in this month's issue of 4 Wheel ATV Action, The Magnum easily beat A Grizzley and The Arctic Cat 500 Auto. If I ever get another Utility ATV, It would definately be a Magnum 500.

Mag500,
They changed the magnum about mid 2000 it has EBS standard along with a few other changes. If you get a chance to look at one you will notice the PVT cover is now grey composite. Mine was made in January of 2000 and has these changes.

Sorry guys, I guess I was wrong on the EBS not being available on the Magnum. If you look in the new accessories catalog, they have the EBS for like $300. It will fit on the Magnum. My dealer told me that next year EBS will be standard, so I stand corrected.
And with the grease fittings, yes there are a bunch, but it only took me about 20 minutes to find all of them. If you take off the tires and jack the machine up, it's no big deal. You only need to do it every 3 months or 50 hours too. I've heard some good arguments that the grease fittings are better than sealed hubs anyways, something about hot bearings drawing water in when they hit cold water?
