Predator Gearing
#11
So is this really bad for the bike to put the 13 tooth on?
I have a 13 on order due this week..i went from a 20 to a 22 rear tire so right now its geared WAY too tall..i was told the 13 would bring me back to stock gearing..or close to it..maybe i should also go with a 38 rear too?

Padla Brats are made by Sand Tires Unlimited. They are straight paddles, with options of 6 or 9. Here's a link...

I wish I could tell you...I haven't bought any paddles yet and am fighting with myself trying to decide what to buy. I think I want straight paddles, because I do lots of climbing, but on the other hand, anything will be better than my knobbies, so would I really notice the difference between straights and V's anyway? With the Predator I doubt turning is going to be much of an issue with straights. Paddla Brats don't come in an 8-paddle design which is the main thing hanging me up....I'm worried that until I pipe it and possibly gear even lower (I currently have 13/37) that I may be not be able to spin them too well off the start. But yes I would get the 20x11x10 9-paddle if I felt a little better about it. My other choice is the Sand Skate II, same company but a V-paddle. It seems to be very popular, and my impression is that if I got it I would still be happy with it. As long as its competitive on hills and gives good launches then I think it would do me fine. The Padla Brats are lighter weight in the side wall than a Skate II. For this reason you must run more air in them to keep the bead seated if you do any jumping (landing) at all. They come molded as a an 18 paddle design. They must be cut to fit your bike & power.
Zillarider02 can tell you more, but his are only cut about 2 inches from each end every other paddle. They hook well enough they are slipping on the rim.
I have the Skate II's on my Predator with 13-38 gearing. It definitly works great!

Thanks for the input. I have decided to try out the SS IIs. Sounds like they ought to do just fine for me. Got quoted $263.00 including shipping and 0.19 Douglas Ultimate 10x9 wheels from Rocky Mountain ATV. I'm gonna give my dealer a chance to match that price and go ahead and order them today. I am bringing the Predator only. My trailer will be @ Little Sahara with the rest of the crew. I need to know more about the Predator anyway, the old Zilla is a proven deal.
I am hoping for around 5.9 ????
