Default Predator Gearing

With all the discussion about changing the front sprocket to 13 teeth I thought I would see just exactly what the ratio's actually are. I too feel the Predator needs a little more gear ratio, but after looking at the ratio's I think I will put a 38 on the back, leaving the stock 14 on the front, this will be split between the stock (2.64 ratio) and just changing to a 13 (2.85 ratio) on the front.

Front ----------------Rear ------------ Ratio
14--------------------- 36--------------- 2.57
Stock 14 -----------37--------------- 2.64 Stock Ratio
14 ---------------------38 ---------------2.71
14----------------------39----------------2.78
14----------------------40----------------2.85
13 ---------------------36--------------- 2.77
13 ---------------------37--------------- 2.85 Most common change
13--------------------- 38--------------- 2.92
13----------------------39----------------3.00
13----------------------40-----------------3.07

Default Predator Gearing

I got my 13 on today, can't wait to try it out sunday. I put padla brat sand paddles on it and thats when I noticed how tall geared it really was.
this bike has half of the bottom end of the raptor so I think gearing it down will actually increase overall performance. JMO

01 raptor stock gearing 13-40
86TRX250R stock gearing 13-39

predator stock gearing 14-37 ????? is that crazy tall gearing or what?!?

Truckracer you should come on over to Whitefield this sunday. Its just south of I-40 on #2 hwy. Lots of good fun drag racing there on sundays, people start showing up around 1 pm.

map

Looks like 125 miles of I-40 from the city, then it would be close to 18 miles south on hwy 2. It might be more driving than you care for tho.

whitefield pics if you are not a member of sony imagestation you will have to sign up to look at these pics. This place is the awsome to drag on. You can tell by the pics!

Good pictures. I don't mind the drive over but tommorrow is not good for me. We are going riding today on the Canadian river and I told the wife I would help her tommorow............

I am now running 13-38 gearing. This thing really likes the lower gears! I've lost a little top end speed. But this thing will surprise the piped Banshee's over 100 or so yards!

Vilnrk - will you be at Atoka on the 22nd?

a 13 tooth sprocket is only a quick fix. the sprocket is too small. the chain needs more sprocket to turn. someone should make a 40 or 41 rear. th e smaller counter actually wants to rip the back axle forward, not spin it. also i don't think the 13 is an exact replacement
