Default picking up predator Sat, lots of questions!

Ok, just talked to the local dealer here in Tucson, Tucson Cycle Ski. The asst sales manager here, Chris, was cool. He gave me the "low-down" on extended warranty pricing and what they entail, dealer to dealer or direct from Polaris.

Polaris offers you 6 months standard from the get go obviously. This only includes major breakage failures (design flaws, etc, recalls, etc) and such....but not if abused of course.

Then, Polaris also offers their own extended warranty on top of the 6 month standard. You can get those up to 4 years I think. They top out around $500ish... The warranty is the same type as the standard 6 month. Only covers major failures, if a Polaris issue, not covered under abused or normal wear and tear items.

Now, here is the distinct difference between the polaris warranty and the extended warranties the dealers offer you.

Each dealer can select which insurance companies they choose to use to cover certain bikes for an extended warranty period. They can also sell their own warranties direct, backed by them.

They cover the bike front to rear bumper, inside out. If your brake pads wear out, they cover it, if you're clutch burns out, they cover it, if you need an oil change, they cover up to so many, if you need a new battery, you can get up to one a year free (they offered this), if you need a new engine since yours wore out, they give you a new one. All parts and labor at their expense. The expense is all on the dealer, not Polaris. Polaris has nothing to do with this warranty period. Covers anything other than abuse.

For a typical full coverage extended warranty, the retail price is $2000 for 3 year extended, which is 3 year 6 months total. Most people will pay around $1495 for this 3 year period. The extended dealer warranty also gives you priority more so over regular customers awaiting services.

So, basically, I paid exactly what I should have paid at the dealer. For the record, the dealer DID NOT jerk me around. I paid what I should have, if not less. (Wipes the sweat from his face)

People with extended Polaris warranties are paying $300-$500, but they are not an all inclusive parts/service/normal wear and tear warranty. It's entirely different.

Hope this is all factual......I saw the numbers in the book of his....

CORRECTION

For the record.

Now, when we picked up the predator on Sat, I inquired about the extended warranty with them. (I had only talked to the dealer here in Tucson about it). I asked the guy if it covered bumper to bumper, wear items too like brake pads. He said NO! I said, well the asst manager in Tucson told me that up at Tucson Cycle and Ski. He said well, that's just not the case. He said that he used to work for the Motorsports Group, which owns many of the dealers in Tucson and Phx, and when he was working there, he and some others had created "the extended warranty" plan from scratch. So, obviously the guy I talked to on Sat knew what he was talking about, the guy in Tucson did not. I don't know why the guy in Tucson would even go on to say all these things were covered when they clearly weren't....weird.

I didn't go into it with him, but it's basically the Polaris warranty plus routine maintenance and breakage if defect, and it's easier to make warranty claims rather than going through Polaris who is a stickler on paying on issues or things....

So, just wanted to let you know the info I had recd was incorrect and it's not an all inclusive warranty, but it does cover the majority of the bike. Sorry for this.
