I was checking the oil level on my 400 today and noticed that didnt get a reading, I drained out the oil and refilled with 75 cc of oil. Still no reading on the dip stick. I had to add about 50 cc more to get a reading. The book says if its over filled it will just be expelled it out the over flow tube so Im leaving the extra oil in. Either the book is wrong or the stick is too short. Has anybody else noticed this? Anybody know which one is correct....the book or the stick?

GJ I looked at my service manual 1996 400s 75cc 97-98 100cc. My 99 owners manual 100cc. I have a 100cc in my 98 Expl and my 99Scr. Hope this may help.

JWC, I found in my papers that I recieved with the quad an update sheet. Mostly on specs. The sheet listed the quanity for the Counter balancer at 100 cc. I was also dumping the tranny fluid and checked its capacity, it stated 16.oz. I bought 2 12 oz bottles and it still need more to get to the bottom of the fill plug. I poured the old oil (factory installed level with the bottom of the fill plug.) into the new containers and it would not all fit. It seems the documentation on these quads is not all that great. Thanks for your reply. GJ
