Hpd or Aaen
#1
Hey Riders!
I'm new to the forum and would appreciate any and all input on this topic. Good or Bad.
I am looking at some performance upgrades for my 400 scrambler. I have narrowed my choice down to either Hpd's trail kit, or Aaen's stage 2 kit. Which do you think would be a better choice? I am leaning towards Hpd's kit. Anybody have one of these kits on their scrambler? If so, how do you like it. If anyone has any other suggestions speak up! I am looking for about 55 - 60 hp, and am willing to spend around $ 1500.

HPD has very good product that perform top notch. A lot of the guys on her that have high performance machines use a lot of HPD's products. They really know what they are doing. Modquad or Bubba297 are the guys you want to talk to. They both have highly modified 400's. BTW, welcome to ATV Connection

Hi, I have Aaen stage 2 with the exception of head machining and an HPD air box. I am very satisfied with my scrambler and would recommend Aaen to anyone. Great customer service and always willing to help with any questions I may have. HPD is also a good company I just leaned towards Aaen when I done mine because of their background in snowmobiles, I felt like at the time they were the one with more experience for my Scrambler. With Aaen or HPD you can't go wrong, just stay with one or the other for all engine mods. Hope this helps.

I thought long and hard about the race kit, but I don't want to sacrifice realiability. Also I do a lot of trail riding through woods, sometimes at low speeds. Would overheating be a big problem?

If you dont want the race mod then go with the trailmod. I pretty much have a full trail mod on my TB and it made a world of difference.I can easilt stay with a 400. And it is just as reliable if maintained right. It actually runs cooler than before.
