installing new jet on predator need help
#1
I just installed a 157.5 main jet on the pred and put in the K&N, I havn't put the slip-on on yet. Problem is that it revs high now. I didn't want to mess with the needle yet. My garage doesn't have light and it was getting too dark to do any adjusting with the idle or the needle. The needle seems different from what I'm used to with the sport. How do you adjust the needle on the pred. And how would you suggest setting the needle

One more thing to ad. I wanted to test out how it would work with the filter and jetting alone. And then test with the silencer to see what kind of different I can see

Moral of the story............ if you don't modify it for more airflow, you don't need to rejet!

well, I feel stupid. I figured out the needle. It was just stuck together and I didn't want to break anything. So that's done with, I figured out my high idle problem too.
Took it for a test ride, first with all the disk in. Great bottom end, but poping on top. I took two disk out and tried again, once with me riding and once with my cousin riding ( he weighs 100 pounds less ). It worked great for him, he thinks it's faster accelerating then his modified raptor and now has a little better top end. When I tried, it was still poping until I hit fourth gear, then it was fine. I figure it's still running a little rich, actually should say not getting enough air. I'm figuring that the snorkel was working better at higher speeds. Also, since my cousin weighs a lot less, the machine wasn't working as hard which is probably why he thought it was good.
My next step is to try it with out the snorkel and see if it makes a difference. If it dose, I'll try putting vents in the back.

the largest jet size the dealer had on hand was the 157.5. Considering it was running a little rich, I don't think I'll go up to the 160.
I took out the prefilter I had in and moved the needle to the 2nd position. I have six disks in and this seems to be the best set up.
It pulls leaps and bounds over what stock was as far as the low end to midrange is concerned. The only problem I have now is that it's easier to hit the rev limiter. I am very please with the improvement, I can now putts around in 2nd and 3rd gear where I might have stalled out before
Speaking of Rev limiter, is anyone working on a new one to raise it.

I have the exact same problem with both of my Predators.
Everything is stock except the WB slip on and main jet - 160.
They both still pop.
I don't think you are hitting the Rev Limiter. That is very difficult to do unless the engine is screaming way beyond what you think it's max is.
Bottom line, there is some kind of design flaw once you slip the WB silencer on.
I am going to remove my spark arrester, install all 8 discs and insert the quiet core tomorrow to see if that helps.
Again, you are not hitting your Rev Limiter. Don't believe me? Put your stock silencer back on and I'll bet you don't begin popping or mis-firing at all!

my predator was popping when i first got it ,but when i put the k&n air filter on it and the 160 main jet, it stopped, also put on 38 tooth sprocket and wb pipe. i have six disc installed and it runs great. I cant wait to blow my friend away on their raptors and 400ex's.
