Porting ?'s
These are just some questions running through my head and I wanted to see If anyone can answer some/all of them. Ok If a motor has been trail ported, can it be race ported? How much difference does a race port make in performance? What are the main differences between a trail/race port? If a motor can be race ported after a trail port, what would the costs be? Does crankcase porting have any performance benefits? What Is done basically in a crankcase port? Just curious, thanks anyone.

NC, race porting with a trail pipe is a no good combo. It will actually run worse. Simple crankcase porting is taking the case halves and setting the cylinder on them one at a time. You match them up for the best possible flow from the crankcase through the transfers. Race porting done right will gain several more HP. Of course with the other mods as well. I start with the basic trail port and then modify from there. I can take one of my cylinders that have trail ported and go from there.HPd doesnt like to do that, but everybody has their own thing. The race port involves modifying the transfer heights and angles, the exhaust duration, and more extensive transfer wall work. It takes me 3 times as long to do a race port as a trail port. Hope this helps,Bubba
