Why does Polaris get bashed so hard!!!!!!

I haven't read anything above, but here's my take. I think polaris quads are nice. They are unique also. As for the old reliability issue I have no idea since I never owned one. Every quad needs to be maintained and will need to be fixed once in a while.

Ahh........It'll never die.
People should be nicer to Polaris owner's. Most the Sportsman's that I see are pulling someone out of mud hole.

Hello,
Let me start by saying that I don't favor one maker over the other. With that said, onto your question. January of this year Polaris dropped many ATVs from their line up. This was due to poor sales with some models and poor quality.
I subscribe to 4 different ATV magazines and when they introduced th new line ups for ATV manufactures, the same thing was said in all four publications.......The main reason Polaris dropped many ATVs from their line up was to focus on quality.
I think it was very big of Polrais to admit that they indeed have had quality problems. Anyhow, that is why you hear the Polaris bashing all the time. Poor quality.
MY friend has a 1998 Sportsman 500 H.O. that he has never had a days trouble with. I have helped all models broken down on trails. However the most have been Polaris that I have seen broken down.
There is a local dealership here that sells both Polaris and Honda. I asked the parts person, not the salesman, which ATV did they see coming back for repairs more, Honda or Polaris. The parts person said Polaris. He further informed me if I was in the market for an ATV, he could not recommend the Polaris due to the Main office in Minnesota.
He said he called them to ask for a part, the main office said that it was not their problem anymore and was not responsible for the way people "rag" out their ATV.
On this I do agree, Polrais is not responsible for the way people ride their ATVs but some service for parts is not too much to ask.....
I have a Kawasaki 650 Camo. I have yet to have any problems with the belt or anything else for that matter. But I have read that the belt has been a problem. So, I installed the "black spring", takes about 30 mins.
I have also owned Hondas and Susukis and yes I have had a few problems with them but it was due to my negligence.
Anyhow, I did not see anything about poor quality about the other manufactuers. Could this be due to the fact Polaris is the only honest ATV manufacturer out there? Probably not, but all makes have problems.
Polaris, however seem to have more problems than most. I have been riding since 1991 and the models that have had most problems have come from Polaris. I am just stating what I have read in the 4 ATV publications I subscribe to. They have been very informative.
Before making a purchase I recommend talking to the mechanics at any quality ATV dealership and ask them of the things they have had to fix that was not a Driver related problem. This may help you understand.

Horror, what ever that parts guy told you is just total B/S. You don't call Polaris to order a part, parts have to be ordered via internet service thru a dealer web site. And as for quality issues the Magnum (500), Explorer and Xpedition series were not dropped due to quality issues. They were dropped simply because of lack luster sales and to consolidate thier line-up, i.e. Sportsman series. Polaris will be bringing new models out in the very near future.
As for quality issues; the Magnum and Xpedition series that were dropped had the best record of any model Polaris has made to date! Yes, Polaris is focusing on quality. They understand the (mis) perception that is out there, mainly due to pre-99 model years. I think Polaris has shown, as few manufacturers ever could or would that they are dedicated to making their ATV's and other products the best that there is!
So, go on and believe what you will from some absolutely LAME parts guy, and continue to be misinformed. Or, look forward with anticipation to what the true leader in ATV innovation is about to bring to avail!

As far as the conversation relating to buying "jap crap", I think we should support ourselves before supporting other countries whenever possible, HOWEVER, the attitude of "American only and everything else isn't welcome here" kind of ticks me off. Some of you so-called patriots should think about it. Think about the Statue of Liberty for instance. Think about how this country was built by people from all over the world, who came here to start a better life, and they did. This nation is supposed to be just what it is, our forefathers planned it that way. All nationalities, religions etc are welcome here, so the close-minded attitude has to go. Don't get me wrong, things haven't always gone as planned, but we've made incredible progress regarding racial tolerance. Some of you guys seem to think that an American is a pure race that is superior to others. What we are is a mix of everything out there. Everybody knows mutts are the best dog! Remember Bill Murrays speech in Stripes? With that said, I personally think that America is the best country in the world and a lot of other countries suck.
It's a good thing I'm not in charge because I would bomb Iraq, make it the 51st state and we would have cheaper gas prices. Just kidding. sort of...

The Statue of Liberty was given to America by France. Far as I can see that is kinda the only positive thing they have done for us ever. How many times has the US bailed France out of things. ie WWII. The gulf war someone will say "France was there with us" yep your right they had maybe 10-15% of the troops there. While the US had about 80%. Good even showing I think. Sorry but not really happy with the French right now. Just my opion.

I have two trailers, either one could be towed by a good half ton. I drive a Chevy 4wd extended cab longbed dually diesel, because I don't want anyone to mistake me for a *****. I should drive a little economy car and save lots of money, just drive the truck on the weekends, but there's that ***** thing to worry about. Maybe I could wear a disguise while I drive, like a ball cap and a fake nose and glasses. Then I could park down the street and walk the rest of the way to work.
A ***** can drive a truck, but can a real man drive an economy car?

I knew when I wrote it that someone would nail me on the French thing with the statue. What I was referring to was the legend written on it. Something about, give us your weak, your over-tired, your over-sized tires, your mindless, your criminals from small islands off the coast of Florida, give us your meek, your homeless, your Polaris', and Yamahas, and Kawasakis. Don't give us Timmmay, or Howard Stern (oops, too late) That was just from memory, so it may not be totally accurate, but you get my point. (do I have a point?)
How can you tell if a tank was made in France?
It has backup lights.
