Sportier Sportsman??
#1
Has anyone tried putting short, sport tires (22x11-10 or similar) on a Sportsman to improve handling and acceleration for riding gravel roads, railroad grades or other relatively high speed trails? We have over 100 miles of rail trail (snowmobile trail in winter) that is fairly smooth and mostly dry in summer. The Sport 400 loved these kinds of trails and I'm wondering if a Sportsman could be made to feel more sporty on them with different tires.

your an idiot if u wanna do that, that totally defeats the purpose of a trail, and MUD machine, putting those whimpy tires on will lower your ground clearance, and if u wanted a sportier quad, why not get the scrambler???? Just my input

MuDsLiCa is a useless piece of scum. Calling someone an idiot for asking a question shows his limited IQ and narrowminded thinking. Most of the woods trails are very wet and muddy requiring a SP type quad. The question was simply if anyone tried slapping a set of ITPs or something on their SP for smooth trail riding. It would cost a lot less to have two sets of tires and wheels than it would to have two quads.
As for you, punkrockrider, where did you see anything about racing??? Don't read too well? Scramblers don't have enough ground clearance for the mud and swamp riding. But THANKS for your learned opinion!
Now, how about hearing from someone older than 12?

500DUSE, the reason would be two-fold. One, you would lower the center of gravity allowing faster, sportier cornering; and you would lower the gear ratio giving you quicker acceleration out of the turns. It would give you a different option to ride, that's all. Just wondering if anyone's tried it.
