Default Moisture in Speedo Problem

I would like to know if anyone has found a way to prevent moisture from forming inside the Speedo. I'm on my second speedometer and both of them have had this problem. I know others have had it also. I would like to know how others are solving this if they are. I've heard about drilling a hole in the back of the Speedo. If this is how you fixed the problem I would like details. How long ago did you do this and is the Speedo still working etc. Thanks....

I have same problem - it appears as a swoosh of fog in the lower part of speedo only. I wonder if it could be caused by heat from the various vent tubes that come into the headlight pod after terminating in the handlebar tube???

I have noticed fog in my speedometer also, the temp light has never come on, so I am assuming it is not overheating. Maybe someone will read this and offer some wisdom.

Unfortunately it is a very common problem which can be annoying. Once the humidity is in it's almost impossible to get it out without drilling a small hole and letting it dry out then sealing it with silicone. Polaris knows they have a problem and switched to VDO for their supplier in 03. So far my VDO sealed unit is flawless but only time will tell. VDO LINK

Mine seems to have moisture in it for the last 5000 miles, but at least is still working fine.
