Default Wheel Spacers on SP700

I just put on a set of ITP 589s on my 03 SP700, 28x9-12 front,28x11-12 rear on the stock rims. The front tires slightly rubbed the tie rod ends, so we put about 1/4 inch of washers on the lug studs behind the wheel to space it out some. I guess this is okay, but I am thinking about going ahead and getting some of the highlifter 1" wheel spacers. Is anyone else running these on a SP700 or have an opinion about wheel spacers?
