95 sportsman 400 2 stroke, shakes terribly from 10-40 mph.

i lifted all four tires with jacks. the hub visibly rocks in and out when i run it up to about 15 mph. really bad around 35. it is in the right front cv joint area.

i stripped it down to the shaft. pulled all the bearings. either the outer short shaft is bent, or the cv joint is bad, or both. solid piece, right? it can't be broken can it?

how much will this cost to replace? i am thinking of buying this atv from my neighbor.

sound familiar to anyone, is this common?? has 2600 miles.

When the cv joint on my scrammy went bad it made a "popping" sound. Cost around $180 for the cv joint and shaft from the dealer

have you checked the rim maybe that got bend some how
it could be wobbling enough to shake the whole quad
just a thought???

 

i think i can be of help here, i when my cv went out, mine made a sound similar to what big bad scrambler went through, idk if your cv it broke or not, you should take it off clean and inspect it just to be sure unless you already have.

it's not the wheels or tires... i stripped it clear down to the shaft, pulled out the bearings and ran it up in gear on blocks, ie:both front wheels off, back tires off the ground.

just the shaft has movement in it, it wobbles like it's bent. don't think its broken..

it's as if the shaft is bent, and the wobble makes the whole atv shake when driving, or even just spinning it up on blocks.

what could it be?

well that could deff. be what it is then
i have no idea how the shaft would bend but they say that if it gets bent just a little it can throw off your 4wheel drive
maybe you want to the shaft off and just check to see if its bent
probably someone else will be able to help you more sorry
