Blew up 4th gear on the Predator...
#11
One of our Predator Pack had a "stuck in 4th gear" that we couldn't shift. The dealer mechanic opened up the gearbox and found a bolt loose, causing the jam. Easy fix.
We also had a broken exhaust valve stem on one other Predator's first outing. Wrecked the engine. The dealer gave a new quad, no quibble!

hey medin,
My pred occasionally makes a noise in the engine. I start it up at idle, you will shortly hear 3 ticks in a rythm, and then it goes away, it only happens when I start the machine and let it idle, but after 3 ticks it's gone. Did the machine with the busted exhaust valve do this too?

Hello PJ
Can't tell if the Predator with the failed exhaust valve had this noise, as owner is 1,000 kms away in our Riyadh Predator Pack. Such a major manufacturing flaw will usually show up in the first outing (infant failure). Sounds like your click click click is normal, before the oil circulates to lubricate the offending noisy component. Medina Sage

Airraptor, that'll be interesting to see. I would think there should be some of the reputable shops working on that. The current valve and dual carb setup is some pretty interesting thinking also. With all the CNC talent across the country, the sky is truly the limit on these machines.

Well at least someone else has heard the tick, tick, tick...that puts me at a little better ease. But it very well could be that the oil just hasn't gotten to the valvetrain yet at first start. Has anybody taken their pred back in to have valves adjusted yet...were they in need of it? Just curious

Dealer told me about the ticking. If the rpm's get too low the crank counter balancer is causing the noise. Nothing to worry about. My 400 ex does it too when I first start it cold...
