Predator testing

Thanks man, I'm grinin' like an idiot since I got a chance to ride. Warning!! Don't stop by the dealership when all the ice-race guys are on lunch. Especially when you have the Pred in the truck with the new Trail Tech gear. I swear the front of the truck came off the ground. 1 quad and 10 guys all piled in, climbing around like it was recess or something. They're yanking their Tag bars for the X-bend. Real comfy I do say.

One thing to keep an eye on is the rear plastic on the Predator. The third time I rode mine was in the woods and the rear plastic support brackets broke off the sub-frame. My dealership re-welded them and I broke them off again along with the plastic the next time I rode it. I put new plastic on and I personally welded the brackets back on, with a bead on both sides of the support and haven't had any other problems. So just keep an eye on it, I have a feeling after some time that will fail on others due to only being welded on one side, just want to spare others the pain of breaking the plastic for no reason since the plastic is designed in a way that all supports have to be on or it WILL break (Mine broke from the outside-in just below that little side reflector). They may think sharp lines look cool, but any engineer should know that causes a stress location!
As far as the vent tube, Mine has broke off 5 times then gas flies everywhere, so I feel your pain and have given it some thought as well!
This weekend while doing a 90ft triple and riding hard in the Badlands I broke off the bolts on my right foot peg and flattened the rear wheels a bit...time for some shocks and beadlocks.
Pudljumper, I run Elkas on my YZ426 quad and they work very good. This summer while in northern Minnesota I was doing a 75ft triple at a track. The track was all sand and it was in the spring and hadn't been prepped, so it was real rough. That along with virtually no landing meant if you were doing it, no need to try landing on the downslope, you had to just pin it in 4th and be ready for it to kick sideways. My friend told me the other day I was at least 25 ft high and would overshoot it by 30 ft sometimes (Flatlanding it) and they soaked it all up every single lap! A friend of mine has PEP ZPS on his CRF450 quad and he rode a 400EX with Elkas and he too said they were way smooth.
This year it looks like I will be running Custom Axis, so I'm extremely curious to see how those compare. I ran Jeremy Shells Cannondale with PEP ZPS last January and they felt similar to my Elka's, so I'm curious how Axis compares as well. As far as the Cannondale, I felt they run and handle well (Similar to a 400EX, 250R, or a Predator). Kory Ellis and I were curious once about the speed on the c-dale, so at Comp Park we dragged down the flattrack with his Cannondale and my YZ426 and we were pretty close, just depended on shifting (Mine was missing the main jet however since I had just pulled the R and put the YZ in, they use the same main and I forgot to swap, ooops). One thing however, the YZ426 has tons more bottom-end power than the Cannondale or my Predator (Things are looking better for the ole Pred though. So drags don't mean much in my book, it's when you get on a loamy whooped-out track or trail where handling and type of power makes the difference...
As far as handling, I do wish the Predator had some rake in the front-end, it would handle and jump better if it did. I hope Polaris will take a looked at that. Plus it jumps a little front heavy, so I'm thinking +1 forward a-arms to cure that. Other than that, it's definitly a good stock bike and they did well with it, just hope they strive to continue to make it even better and not just release something and leave it the same for 10yrs like everybody else usually does.
Have a good one and be safe...

found a set of elkas on e bay, you seem to know are they worth getting??here's the link to e bay thanks

Yea they are excllent shocks. But before buying them off e-bay like that, see how much reputible dealers sell them for. You might be best buying them through a shop that actually services them as well. But that's up to you, I'd do some research. Find out exactly which shock he's selling (What all is adjustible?) and see if it's worth trying to buy them that way by seeing what others charge and if they maybe give you a break on recharging them if you buy from them or something.

They shipped me the high bars....now I think my buds have 5 more on order. Since they are the 1 1/8" you do need to change out the clamp. I think their site states the results are with their mount. I has about a 1/2" pair of spacers under it.
