Front gear case lube
#1
Sorry about the last post ,,,hit the wrong button :-) I am changing all my fluids and the dealer set me up with everything he said i needed for the change but when I drained my front gear case I noticed all I had was the synthetic gear case oil for the transmission (1 qt.) I looked in my new service manual I purchased and it said I need a 80-90 SF1 gear oil. Is this something he should have supplied me with or can I just purchease a stock gear lube for this? Also I didn't notice any mention of a rear gear case oil drain in the manual unless I just overlooked it . I have changed the transmission fluid but didnt see another drain back there.

nightal, there is only one drain for the tranny/rear gearcase. You should have used the synthetic gearcase lubricant for that. For the front gear case you use 80/90W gear oil that can be found at any auto parts store or Wally-World. I used a Vavloline Synthetic blend 80/90W. You didn't mention the front hubs but you can use ATF instead of the hub fluid from Polaris. I used Mobil 1 synthetic ATF, the hubs didn't stick as bad with the Mobil 1.

I am using 90w marine lower unit gear lube in front geabox, but if you look in your manual any off the shelf 80-90 will work and you don't have to worry about limited slip additives because the Polaris front end is all wheel drive.
