We just installed the complete kit last week on a '02 700 with 600 miles. We have another 700 with only 150 miles that has been consistantly SLOWER in all drag race tests (both completely stock). After the kit was installed, the engagement is higher, the exhaust is louder, and the bike is now SLOWER than the other. Called Hot Seat, all parts were correct. We ordered some new jets that should supposedly fix the problem. Will update tomorrow when they come in and after more testing. The only part in the kit we didn't install was the intake plate that replaces the snorkel tube. We need the intake as high as possible on ours.

I have lots of experience with Hot Seat. Mostly good ones. The problem is sometimes the stuff works and for some sleds (or ATV's I guess) it just plain doesn't. It works quite well on the H.O.'s.

 

If you are asking about Hot Seat Performance
I have heard mixed reviews regarding hotseats products. Especialy with their silencers, some folks have had them rust, rattle and fall apart soon after putting them on the 700's. [This could have been early design flaws that they have worked out] Realy haven't seen anything negitive in regards to their clutch kits. Also saw a post somplace dealing with their performance pipe, if I recall correctly the mounts weren't in the correct spot and also rattled then came lose.

I had their hiflow intake on my wheeler for a little while, works great until you get into some water, then the steam gets sucked into your intake box and ...you know the rest.

 

[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]Thanks for the response..I got one of the first Speed kits..tuned header broke..Hot Seat fixed it and it broke again..My friend a tool and die welder fixed it with 1/8 stainless and it has not broken since.The silencer has broken every ride(I have 2035 miles on kit)scews come loose,spark arrestor came loose,both ends screws fell out and then the last ride the silencer main body cracked down the middle..Called Hot Seat and said they would replace the silencer if they could not fix it.The 700 runs super with the speed kit but sure hope they get my problems worked out...So far the folks at Hot Seat have been very nice.Will letyou know what happens...

 

how good is the kit for the sportsman 500 h.o ?

 

Rejetted the 700 twice today. With 2 sizes bigger jets it runs a bit better. It now pulls the stocker and has 1-2 more mph of top end. The other difference is now it will lay rubber on asphalt for about 3'. It feels like it has way more midrange but up against the stocker it just doesn't show it.

The 500 H.O.'s I know run very strong with the Speed Kit.

 

i heard the k&n filters let dust throuh on the trails, if thats true should i use stock filter? Also I'm afraid the super header will be too loud, I don't want it to sound like a jet airplane going down the road.
