lancems007, Do you have the Powermaxx Exhaust? Are you running the 165 main jet that came with it? Did you turn the pilot screw 3 turns out from lightly seated? Just wondering because I did it just like the instructions said and I didn't notice any gain in top speed.

HUH, BigBad, the directions told you to turn the pilot screw 3 turns out?? Is that a gas screw?? Or air screw?? My carb book says that if you have to go more than 2 turns out your pilot is too rich and anything past 3 will not make any difference.(not enough vacuum created) Just curious, thanks.

It was the screw under the plug. My plug was already drilled out. I think that it is the pilot screw??? I dont know much about carbs. I'll have to find the instructions tomorrow and make sure that I am giving you the right info, but I am pretty sure that it was 3 turns out from lightly seated. To get it seated, I had to turn it about 8 times.

8 turns?? It was probably about to fall out!! I know with Mikuni rounslide and flatslide, which are slightly different from yours, the spring will not hold the screw in past 3 turns. Here is how to tell if it is a gas screw or an air screw. Looking at the screw is it on the airbox side of the carb slide (center) or is it on the intake side? If the screw is on the intake side, it is a gas screw, airbox side, air screw. Thanks for the info, just trying to learn something here.

That is probably a fuel screw, it is located at the bottom of the float bowl right?? If so, the same rules may not apply??

Yeah, I think that it may be the fuel/air mixture screw. I was suppose to drill a plug out, but the plug was already out. According to the instructions (which I cant find) I just adjusted that and changed the main jet. Is there anything else I should have done?

Hey I seen in your signature that you already know about the HeelCLicker clutch kits. I would highly suggest one. My buddy has one on his 400 scambler and loves it so much I got one for my SP 500 and I cant say enough good things about it. And it wont touch your top end. I would check out their site at www.heelclicker.com and if you need help just call Dan. He is great and the customer service is awsome.

hope this helps
