Okay here goes. 4 wheel drive doesn't work and the speedo or odometer either. I didn't think they were related but the polaris dealer says that the 4-wd wiring goes thru the speedo housing. Now don't get me wrong I sorta trust the polaris dealer, about as far as I could throw that new 700. So does anyone have a wiring diagram that you could scan or e-mail me.

I don't know if this will help but.. here's a part diagram for the headlight housing. Or try to search a little more on Partsland.com, it might give you an idea. If it was me I'd get an owners manual, they cost about $30 and it's the best money ever spent.

I would agree with the dealer, there are some common wires between them, can't remember which ones, but in general you should also have a bad circuit breaker that could be affecting those parts. When I get home tonight I will try to send you a wiring diagram but I need your email, PM it to me. Maybe as late as tomorrow before I can get it to you though.

Check the wheel speed sensor. It reads the 'holes' in one of the front brake disks to measure your ground speed. The Polaris has a 'safety' feature that will not allow the 4wd to lock in unless you are traveling under 8 or 10 MPH or so. If the speedo cannot read the ground speed, often it will not allow the 4wd to engage.
Is the speedo completely dead (the backlight, and the LED display) or does it just not register speed/distance. If it is completely dead, look for a torn wire, or short circuit. If it just doesn't read speed/distance, check the wheel speed sensor.

overvoltage could have blew out your speedometor, are the wires plugged into the back of the speedometor??? If everything looks ok you could take it to the dealer and swap the speedo with one they might have in stock, if it still doesn't work then you have wireing problems, i've seen quads come in before that a mouse got into over the winter and chewed through wires.
