Hey guys, I know I could probably do a post search and find out about this, but I'm just too lazy
It seems like our 98 Sportsman 500's tranny is sorda "sticking" when it's been ridden a while. After 30-45 minutes of 10-30mph riding, the gear shift doesn't wanna go in and out of gear. The other day I was climbing out of a creek with it, and I hit reverse from low, then back to low, then it wouldn't come out of low. I took the side panel off and the shift linkage and tapped the shifter piston with a rubber mallet, and it popped back out of gear. Is this a problem with the linkage, or something inside the shifter or tranny? Any pointers on how to stop this problem? It's became a real 'noo-sun-ce'. Thanks!
David

That happened to by buddies 500 2 weeks ago.....there was a lota tention on the shifter....after a trip to the dealer they shimed the cluch....worked for a few hrs....then it was back....The machine would also ''creep'' when idleing in great.....took it back and they took the clutch off and turned it on a lath, like an old brake drum......now it works 100%.....and they said that should work of a year or so....then its time for a new one....they blamed it on pulling a trl in high gear...so when creeping around the yard use L....let us know what u do.....
