gear selector light is stuck in reverse
#1
I have a polaris Scrambler 2002 500 4x4
I tried to wire up a cigarette lighter by using the red accesory plug under the hood, as per the wireing diagram.thats when the trouble started. cigarette lighter works fine so I dont know If it was the caulse or a coincidence. But now the gear selector light is stuck in reverse no matter what gear i am in. therfore I have to hold the override button in even when going foreward. I disconnected the shift selector switch at the transmission and now it will go foreward without having to push the overide button but no lights come on to tell me what gear the machine is in. anyone have any ideas what is wrong??? or how to test the individual components to find out what is bad??

I have disconnected everything and still the reverse light stays on. if i disconnect the gear selector switch at the transmission the light will go off and i can than drive in foreward without using the override button but no lights come on to tell me what gear it is in. there are no pinched wires. I think i must have destroyed the gear selector switch does anyone know how to test it???
