500 HO or 700 sportsman?

what about the 600? its not that much more for the 600 then a 500, so it would make sense to get the 600, wouldnt it? i hear it has more low end torque(which u can never have to much of) and its a little heavier, which should improve the ride slightly. when i got to test drive the 2004 600, it was awesome. any thoughts on the 600?Text

Kutter, I would be leary of a used bike, it`s allready two years old, know telling now bad the previous owner beat on it, or why it was returned to the dealer. For the money I myself would go with the new 500 without a second thought Also, would 700 have any warranty on it ?

Yella250 is right, I picked up a 700 when they first came out. Thought I was getting a fast bike, but just about every 500HO I`ve come up against can beat me off the line and up to about 45 mph. The 700 advantage is very slight at top speed, but hardley worth the extra money. A bit of a slug in my opinion!!!

My personal experience.....
My bud, that i bought my 01 500 HO from, bought the sp700 as soon as available. His wife rode a 500 HO (the one i now own)
side by side drags on a frozen lake = the 500 HO kickin *** every time. It wasn't his fat-*** vs the skinny wife, either,... when they traded machines, the 500 still beat the 700.
He was (rightly) pissed right off. After 3 trips to the shop it came back being able to pass the 500 after about 1300 ft. (and just barely) He's had some bad luck with his too,.. as per previous posts, snapped axles after adding a highlifter kit/ wheel&tire combo. The other thing I dont like about the 600 & 700 is the lack of a recoil starter backup. When the battery & starter let loose last year it took 5 of us to push it up the ramp onto the truck to go to the dealer
Dont get me wrong,... the 700 is an awesome machine. it just looks friggin amazing. I'm just glad I dont have the probs my bud has had.
