top speeds
#2
Most of the top speeds are very close, main reason is the agreement the atv manufacturers made with the cpsc back in the 80's. I think it said they needed to stay under 75mph or something like that. Anyway that agreement expired, and who knows what will happen.
Anyway, my educated guess is
Raptor 77
YFZ 75
DS 78
KFX/ Z 72
kfx700 75
400ex 70
gas gas I have no idea
on 2 strokes you have the banshee at about 78 and the gas gas which I have no clue about.
That is machines built today, as for older ones I have no idea. Most are going to be between 70 and 80 mph.
I think those numbers are pretty close, of course terrain, wind, altitude, all play in the top speed.

never really checked my DS but they claim 78? i know if i get a case of the stupids i can keep up with the cars on our hwy that has a 70mph speed limit. then again my busa has a claimed top speed of 198 but i will never know for sure. 175 was as fast as i have had the nutts to go and then they just about had to pry me off the seat.

137 MPH would be incredibly fast for ne quad. i found a website (for got what it's called) that has a bunch of pics and some specs on turbo charged quads. there's a turbo charged banshee that puts out almost 200 HP (if i remember correctly) and i doesn't even get to 130 MPH

i just saw an article in one of the atv mags about the pikes peak race and those quads were only hitting a little over 100mph? they did say the quads had they fastest time out of all the racers, bikes, cars and trucks!

Yeah, and these quads were bored and stroked Banshee 450s'!! Hmmm, these quads are built for one thing and one thing only, to get the most horse power for the Pikes Peak run, I seen a buncha CT bikes, I know CT has the Podium for the past 3years, and unless I am gravely mistaken he will not build these motors for everyday riding, because of reliability issues............................... Hmmm, philosophically rubbing my chin, so therefore with the 2-strokes possessing such a lower time than the 4-strokes (do not feel like going and getting the exact numbers but I am sure it is real easy to find with todays internet), and the Shee 450s' only hitting a little over 100 mph, I SERIOUSLY doubt that this Raptor hits a top speed of over 130.................. Just my .02/worth...........
