Here in the Pacific NW. We wear, of course, helmets, thermals, jeans, layered shirts, jacket, riding boots, gloves inside rainproof gloves,
AND - PVC raingear! (unless you like it wet and cold!). Of course the kids also wear their chest protectors.
At the dunes we wear our ATV riding gear since we don't have to worry about rain as much.

 

My opinion...ok these are what I think are a must.....helmet, gloves, and some over the ankle boots at least......Um next if you want to invest in something I would say some good rider boots...they provide a lot of support and protection...ok now heres what I have......htc helmet.scott goggles. no fear racing pants and shirt. oneil m 900 boots and of course a couple pair of good gloves............................................ ..................As for chest protector..Only depends how nuts you are and whats between your legs! I meen if your riding a 90cc then hell you'll bounce off stuff before you reck but if your pushing some big cc's under your legs and you ride like your suppose to ride then a chest protector would probably be a good idea..It can save you some cerious hurten....I think I'm going to invest in a chest protector soon just because of a few past incodents I had on my scrammy 500..................but ya you could buy enough safety gear to make you a human plastic can..so I don't beleive in overdoing it..but thats just my opinion

 

one thing, i ride 350ccs but it weighs more than the ds and v-force( i would need more protection than say somebody riding one of those). i just ment to point one thing out. its about weight not ccs

 

Ya...its true somewhat of the weight..I know I'd rather hit a tree riding a 90 cc doin 30 then a vforce 700 doin 75....but you don't have to tell me about weight...my 4x4 is a hause...558 dry weight..whenever that thing goes to role I bale out real quick...It rolled on me once and about killed me..I really wish I had a chest protector then.

 

Helmet ofcourse, Usually regular t-shirt, sometimes jersey, gloves, jeans and red wings(soon to be tech 6 boots)

 

I wear my helmet, sometimes jersey and pants. I always have boots (thor T30 or steel toes) My son is outfitted from top to bottom including chest protector! Can't make him wear a helmet if dad doesn't huh?? Gotta protect yourself, it doesn't make you a pu$$y...it makes you smart!!!!!!
