OT: author icons

does anyone know how to make a file size smaller so that i can upload a picture of my quad as my author icon?? when i try to do it, it says that the file exceeds the limit, which is 8kb

Try downloading a photo program like a demo of pant shop pro of Photoshop Eliment. Those programs will let you smash the picture down as small as you want.

I use Photoshop and convert it to a gif image. They are alot smaller than the jpeg format.
