I was in your shoes 2 or 3 months ago. Raptor or 400ex? My main concern was reliablilty. I have had more than my share of problems in the past and wanted a trouble free bike. I researched the reliabilty of the raptor and 400ex. The 400ex is by far a more reliable machine. Don't get me wrong, I have ridden Raptors and they are fun as sh*t. I love them but the fact is they are less reliable. If you are concerned with reliabilty, the 400ex is your machine. I bought my 400ex brand new and I love it. I have no doubt in my mind I made the right choice.

i ride a raptor and have no problems. its the best machine out there (for me) i ride trails, sand pits, fire roads, pole lines, and the street. i think it is great for the trails cuz of the ground clearence. sure the stance is a little tall, but after a while you use it to you advantage. id go with the raptor if i was you

IF stock vs. stock,
New- go with the Raptor, more advanced, but 400ex is not that far out of the league like some jackasses say.
Used- definately go with a 400ex, very tough and I have seen a lot of broken down raptors, no affense, I ride with 3 of them that always need more maintnance than most.
Really depends on the person, the raptor is a bit tippsy but if you are good it doesn't matter, the 400 is just well built all around, just could use some more ***** stock.

The rapter has 260 more cc's to play around with then the 400ex so it will respond to mods better. But their is a big aftermarket for 400ex's. Yamaha and Honda are both really good companys as far as performance and reliability. i would go with the rapter, just because of the extra power and bigger chasis. But thats me. if your going to endyup putting 1-2 thousand into it, the 400 has a great aftermarket. if your going to be keeping it near stock ( pipe, filter, jet ) Get the rapter. Either quad is great. Good luck with what ever one you get.

do you self a favor and get the RAPTOR the 400ex is good and all just not compared to the raptors power plant happy picking o and what are you gonna do with that 250x??? i could use another
