Keeping your quad outdoors ?

Got this from a guy who got tired of people stealing stuff out of his boat shed.
Rig up as many LOUD 12V car horns as you can around the area/bldg where you keep the quad. set up trip wires (use your imagination) and contactors as needed so that anyone moving anything, opening a door, or moving your quad will set these things off. It will scare the crap out of them and get alot of attention. Wire it so it can't easily be disabled and the only choice is to hightail it.
More horns the better, and if you can make it to turn on lights I would think it would be even better.
The guy with the boat shed said it worked so well, he found skin left behind on the dock. Some one wanted to get away fast.
Alternate idea, put a PIT BULL in the shed.

Until I build a lean to, mine stays outside. I keep it in the bed of my truck with the doors locked on the truck, parked under the light mounted on the garage and backed up to a chain link fence. I figure the bike's too heavy to pick up out of the bed and too close to the fence to unload off the tail gate.

Rather than a chain, use a cable lock. The thicker the cable the better, but they are much harder to cut than a link chain. Steel cable is at least twice as strong as steel chain pound for pound. I have a teflon and titanium coated cable, it can be cut but not easily, and not with an small tool. I tested it with 20-inch cutters and it just slides out over and over again. If you had a pair of the big 30+-inch firemans type cutter you could cut it.
Oh yea....the BEST thing to do is.......get insurance. It's well worth the price to know that you'll get some cash if some dope steals your ride.
