Default front Z400& yzf 450 same tire but tread is going in diffrent directions?

Hi, i noticed that the Z400 has the dunlop 331 front and the YZF 450 has the 331 a front, they both have rotation arrows on them but the tread is going in diffrent directions ( if you took the Z400 tire and swaped them from side to side that would be the direction of the tread. So are these tires real directional like they state on the side wall? which direction would be better? thanks

yeah i noticed that also when i still had my YFZ comparing it to by buddies Z. I think they corner equally as well in either direction so i dont really think it matters which way they are rotating... Mace

if im not mistaken, honda did this kinda thing with the 88/89 250R and the 99+ 400ex. both use (or have used: honda may have switched the 400EX to Dunlops by now) the MR radials from othsu and both had them going in different directions in the front. maybe it was the dealers at the time but every 88-89 250R i saw back then had the tread pattern the opposite of 99.99% of the 400Ex's ive seen since then.

i dont think it causes a major problem-ive never seen anyone during all these years have a front tire problem b/c it was going the wrong way from the arrow on the side of the tire. the only things ive seen was punctures and stuff- which would happen no matter which way the arrow was going. a nail or whatever on the ground isnt going to discriminate.

zuki is doing the same thing on the ltr, you'll notice the tread is opposite that on a itp holeshot mx front.

IMO they are only differentiated from each other so that it will appear that multiple machines and production companies arent using the same set of tires.
