old 2 strokes still have it?

one more thing... 2 strokes are not a dying motor design, think about it. 4 strokes have been playing catchup for the past 20 years, and now that there getting up to 700cc they're finally getting close... I had a KX500 I sold last year, and let me just say if you can find me a 4 stroke to beat that stock for stock..... i dunno what I'll do because it won't happen, maybe cry i guess, but the point is yes they might be vanishing from the showroom floor as far as ATV's but dirtbikes are still goin strong, and theres a huge market out there for anything 2 stroke.

Neither the EPA or the Government is going to ban 2 strokes. They are however going to regulate emissions. But it does not matter if its a 2 or 4 stroke design. One day you may see this new 2 stroke technology makes it way into a ATV.

I never had strong after market support anyway. Mine still runs like hell. The 2s will always be here. The fours that are out there now are so refined that they'd have to put a 4 banger in them to improve on the current crop of 4 strokers. I like and have both but the 2 stroke is an addiction. If you haven't ridden one, don't. You'll never get it out of your system.

Well, now that 450s have replaced 250 2-strokes in both motocross AND supercross i'd say 2-strokes only have so much time left. which is really sad. I like my Kx250. they're easy to work on, and a blast to ride. plus much less weight. but hey, as long as 250 2-strokes keep winning GNCC then maybe they'll stick on the roster.

The "average joe" racer can not afford the purchase and up keep on the newer thumpers, so there will still be a market for the pingers in the amature level of motocross for some time now. They're not going to die, just be limited.

The only thing 2 strokes dont have is the ability to please the EPA right now. It still takes a thumper that is twice the size of the 2 stroke to beat it. It amazes me that some are impressed by that.

CC for CC there isn't much comparison but they are getting good power out of fairly light thumpers nowdays. I like the power of 2-strokes. A LOT! But the powerband is narrow compared to a modern 4-stroke design. I like the range of a modern day thumper. Comes in handy when you're old and lazy like me and don't like to shift all the time.
Sheez, by time I'm 40 I'll prolly like cvt's.
