The 400 will put out decent hp numbers with expensive and extensive mods. Probobly not the best engine to start with if you are looking to make some huge numbers or looking to build a go fast drag bike. It just doesn't have what it takes to compete with todays engines. Here is a link to a turbo 400ex that dyno'd 48hp. Not bad but not all that great considering that you can get close to 45-50 horses out of a raptor or a 450 or a preddy or a DS with the right pipe, intake and jetting. I dont think that the EX is a bad bike, my girlfriend still rides one but Im getting ready to buy her a YFZ or 450R because shes bored with the 400's power.

HAHAHAHA! wow I thought they were better than that and turboed at 48hp haha. I thought that they were closer to scramblers but I guess not since 400's are at 38 stock and with a pipe and reeds are over 50hp with less than a $500 investment. But hey not trying to be an *** here cuz its all relative a 400ex is lighter IDK by how much but it is. I've just always heard how the 2 bikes are almost the same as a comparison and I thought they would be more powerful but I guess the suspension and less weight make up for it.

It probably puts out more HP than that. My buddy has an 04 and just put a Big Gun Evo exhaust system with rev box, and intake, and that thing rips pretty good. It would smoke a scrammy....
