Default Steering Stem: Difficult to replace?

Yes, i recently rolled my DVX400 and was curious if it is difficult to replace the steering stem. I replaced the handlebars hoping that was all and noticed that the stem is bent as well..... so is it easy and how long would it take? Also which brand is best to buy, cheap and good would be best......or one with lifetime warranty (if any exist) just curious cuz i'd like to possibly get this minor glich worked out of my DVX
Thanx

Default Steering Stem: Difficult to replace?

Steering stems are generally not that difficult to replace. You'll have to remove your front plastic and gas tank, then disconnect all the controls from your handlebars and remove the bars.

you have to remove the gas tank to get at the upper steering stem mount to the frame. you'll also have to disconnect your tie-rod ends at the bottom of the stem. there should be a large nut on the bottom of the stem. remove this. remove the upper stem mount and bushing, and the stem should pop right out. given your model, there may be some minor differences and things in the way you may have to deal with. the stem on my raptor was easy to do, but I did it a few months ago during my total tear-down and rebuild.

as far as stems go, I think Houser has the best. The stems run almost $150 below the average price for Roll Design, LSR and ATV FourPlay stems, and you can get the anti-vibe bar mount with it. The stems also come in like 4 or 5 different color options.
Do a search for Houser Racing.

I called Houser and ordered from them directly. I may have paid more like $160-$180 after shipping, but that included the anti-vibe bar mount with the stem. Maybe that's the problem, you're looking all over, but those places have only upped the price to make money.
