2007 KAWASAKI KFX90 Speed reduction collar?
#31
I got a great idea(so I think). I wonder if that CDI on the KFX90 is the same as the KFX50. What I mean is I wonder if the rev limit is different from the two quads. Could any of you 07 KFX90 owners possibly give me a part# off the CDI on your quads? Also how many wires with colors plug into it? Please!!!!

All, I found an exploded parts diagram here:
http://www.powersportseast.com...e_selec...i&year=2007
Select the belt converter diagram for the KFX90.
It looks like the spacer that needs to be removed is part # 92026A. Can anyone confirm?

I read your response on 4/28/2007 regarding removing the restrictor collar on the KFX90. My granddaughter was at the race at Glen-Helen this week-end and didn't want to race because everyone was passing her. Do you know the color wire in the control box that connects to the revlimiter? Your help would be appreciated and my granddaughter will be happy also.

Ok , Im slowly making progess with this KFX50. I just installed a 28T rear sprocket(for a Kasea) and a 17T front sprocket . The hot wheels speed gun clocked my son @ 18MPH I also removed the variator weights( the 6 rollers) and installed lighter ones . I also replaced the three rear clutch springs w/ 2000rpm(red) springs. That really helped with take off. I was gonna do the CDI swap with the KFX90 , but decided to replace parts that I know would work. I think the cheapest way for you KFX50/90 people to get more speed is to do a sprocket swap. You wont loose no low or high end torque(well you will, but nothing noticeable) because that little engine is dying to rock and roll!!!
Info: Stock variator weights: 8grams(ballpark figure) 6 total
carb: Keihin PTE16 , 85 MAIN JET. There is NO restricted parts on this carb. I removed and disassembled it. Also, dont bother buying a bigger carb , you will end up with the same results until they(mini quad gods) make a no rev CDI.
MAX RPM(KFX50): 8000RPM + OR - A COUPLE HUNDRED
Just some info I thought I would share. Also the Suzuki forum has some good info for their LTZ50. Yes they are having the same issues. Sorry to waste your time, hope you got something useful to use. Tim
