Default 2007 KAWASAKI KFX90 Speed reduction collar?

We bought 2 of these quads for our triplets and they are dogs in the higher gears with this limiter in place.
Does anyone know where the Maximum speed reduction collar from th drive train system is? The owners manual states that it exists and it needs to be removed to gain full power. The dealer service dept does not know anything either??

Thanks ahead of time and Happy riding!

My buddy pulled his off, and it is still easy for the kids to control. I say just pull it off, and use the throtle limiter screw for control of the power.

Where is it? We went on the Kawasaki website and looked up parts and could not find anything that was called the speed reduction collar. I am sure my husband can remove it if we knew what to remove.
THanks

I don't know your quad but on most of the little quads they have a collar or restrictor in the carb throat and some have them in the exhaust. That is where I would look first.

Its in the tranny. Easy to remove most dealersdont know much about the 06 models.Check your manual it gives you an idea of where its at. Once u remove it it alows the belt in thr tranny to go deeper in the pully. I have a suzuki so i think its the same thing. Try to find a service manual on e-bay for step by step. Hope it goes well for you. By the way whats the top speed on those 90s?

We checked the exhaust, the KTZ90 product manual states that the speed reduction collar is in the ...drive train system and that a special tool is needed to remove it. Without taking the whole drive train apart, it is not obvious as to where this collar is located. We also have the 2004 TRX 90 and removed those restrictors in it a while ago. This quad (KFX 90) does not seem to have the same restrictors and so far nobody knows where this reduction collar is located in the drive train system???
Thanks,

The KFX 90 is a 2007 and we have looked so far we have not been able to locate a service manual. The Kawasaki web site shows diagrams of different parts of this quad. There is no part labeled speed reduction collar in the drive train diagram. So far we have not been able to check the top speed. My husband drove it up the street and he felt it did not go much faster then the kids old 50's. Our 2004 Trx 90 w/o mods except a new airfilter tops out at around 35mph with our older daughter who is 105#. My husband read on this forum that there is a pink wire coming out of the engine wire bundle that supposedly limits the top end. Cutting this wire allows the TRX 90 to reach full speed. My husband has not verified this information yet, this is just what he read on this forum.

I think suzuki and kawi share alot of there stuff. Hers some pics from my book hopefully it helps you out on what it is and where its at. Once you remove the side cover you need to remove the starter cup and face nut then you will see the little ring in the pic. Just pull it out and put it back together. The spec. too is just so when you try to loosen the nut the face nut wont move try to figure out how to hold it from spinning when you loosen so the nut screws off. Hope this helps. side cover
