First Sport Quad??
#1
I was just wondering what would be a good sport quad for me. Im 5, 6' 135lbs, right now I have a 1999 yamaha bear tracker and a 2000 polaris indy 500 snowmobile. I want to sell both of them and eventually end up buying a used sport quad with that money. I'm thinking I might have between $2000-2500 to work with maybe a little more if I got my parents to chip in some money.
I was thinking a yamaha warrior would be a good quad for me. I've never driven a manual quad, just my semi-auto bear tracker so I would have to learn how to drive it but it shouldn't be that hard because I know the basic idea. But I'm open for suggestions and any ideas you guys have.
Thanks.

Something in the 400 class. In your price range, I would suggest a Honda 400EX. They handle well and are one of the most durable machines out there. Mine is 8 years old and all I have had to ever do to it is replace the rear axle bearings. The Suzuki Z400 is a great choice as well.
You are still not to big for a Honda 300EX, so that would be a good choice as well. The Honda 250EX is a fun machine, but doesn't have the plusher suspension of the 300 and 400's.
A bit of advice on the Warrior. I started out on a Warrior years ago and back then I thought it was a descent machine. Then I got the 400EX and by comparison relaized that the Warrior wasn't so great after all! Do yourself a favor, and just skip the Warrior..........

There will be many more warriors in that price range than 400ex's, and the warriors will probably be in better shape as well. Sure the 400 has more power and handles better, but the warrior is still a great trail bike with decent power and reverse. The 300ex is a good choice, handles a bit better than the warrior but lacks a bit in power. Both the warrior and 300ex are very reliable machines, and both handle much better once you remove the large baloon-like rear tires.

dont buy a warrior!, buy a used 400ex. There are tons of these bikes around and millions of mods. my brother used to have a warrior and he went riding with my cousins at my cottage and they all have 400exs. The trails were really rough and he couldnt keep up with them at all so he ended up getting mad and parking his for the day and just riding theirs when they weren't LOL
go ride a warrior then try a 400ex and you be the judge...
