Default Mini-Engine Skid Plate for TRX300EX

Can anyone help me find a mfg co. that makes a aluminum engine skid plate that replaces the stock Honda plastic skid plate? I don't want to pay for a full frame type skid plate, only a mini-plate that protects my motor from rock damage. I am not a super aggressive rider and see little use for a full plate - a mini plate the same size as the stock Honda one would be perfect but made from aluminum with an oil drail hole.

Any ideas? I've searched the net but only keep finding full frame skid plates. I ride in the woods up in the NW and need some type of protection for my motor.

I have an 04' TRX-300EX Sportrax.

THANKS!!
SP

I always consider frame protection to be just as important as engine protection. Buying a new frame, could be just as expensive as an engine rebuild!

For light duty on sport quads, the very light Maier plastic skids do very well! Don't be fooled by the fact that they are plastic...they are plenty tough (they make guns out of plastic these days!). Nice thing about plastic is that it is slick and will slide off of rocks, where aluminum gauls and will hang up.

Maybe so, but I doubt I am going to damage my frame to the point it will need replacing. Punching a hole in the bottom of your motor seems like a much more likely event. Saw it happen this summer out on the trails to a MX'r....

In any event I did check out the Maier plastic skids and they seem pretty affordable. Anyone out there have first run experience with these? I still can't believe no one makes a more robust replacement skid plate for the stock Honda one.

Thanks for your feedback....maybe I will go for the Maier. Anyone else??
