DS450x vs. KTM450xc
I have heard a lot of discussion about people comparing the KTM and Polaris 525's with the DS but nobody has discussed the comparison of the 2 quads that are actually in the same class (DS and KTM 450). What does everybody think. I personally think they are both awesome but I would take the DS for a few reasons. EFI(it's the future), weight, and HP are among the reasons for me. Let's hear it everyone!

It may have been a small mistake for KTM to not have efi, but it certainly isn't needed to be competitive. The FCR carb is easy to work on and proven. I would have to reserve judgement on the machines until there are some shootouts to compare them or I get a chance to ride them back to back(doubtful) but on paper the KTM looks to be a better platform for the budget racer. Dealer support is also a big part of these things, and I could see one being picked over the other just for the convenience of dealer location.

well stock the ktm come with olies shock which are some of the best shocks you can buy. also i dont know about the ds450 but the ktm comes stock with a adjustable axle. i think almost all the componets on the ktm are a little better than the ds450. btw does the ds450 have that no weld frame? im not saying its bad it just not proven yeat and might be weak. also can you find a gusset kit for it? i know you will be able to find one for the ktm somewhere.

Check out the shocks on the DS450x they are pretty amazing themselves. Those Kayabas are way nice. The DS does not have an adjustable axle. And the no weld aluminum is way stronger than a welded aluminum frame like the KFX's and that's why the can am engineers designed in that way. It seems to be holding up really well in the Pro class races so far. Can Am is doing really well in racing, and the 08' team look to be awesome. I think these two quads are going to be in the top spots repeatedly.

Actually, the DS450 isn't doing well. The only series it's been racing in is the WORCS series. They have had more DNF's then finishes, and the ones that finished have not done well except one race. More time is needed, but it isn't doing well now. On the other hand, the KTM has done quite well with Tim Farr, and Rice in the GNCC races.

Check these links. I think the DS450 is doing fine and a lot of others think so.
KTM also has their problems
