You're just dreaming that because you own one.j/k giving you crap. I could see KTM's and new SRA outlaws doing well, but watch out for the can-am DS450 baby. To keep to the point. I would put money on a 450r if anyone came to sand mountain Utah and gave the 2 quads a real test of who's faster. The biggest sand hill in the nation, perfect for a real drag race. The 2 machines equally modded and the 450r will always win. That's what I have observed so far, and I've even seen them beat up on the outlaws up the mountain. I think this debate should be over since nobody can prove anything through words on a forum.

what is the real number for the 450r at the crank?

-04 and 05 are the same right? and then the 06 gets a big boost- supposedly it feels like an hrc'ed 04.

and no, i wouldn't race you if i had a pred, not in a drag at least. On the track i would b/c that's the best thing in life and it doesnt matter if you win or lose on the track. (if i got a pred it would be an 03 because they're so cheap- but then again i wouldnt drag it because i'ld be worried that the tranny self-destructs if i powershift by accident

 

Ill take a 450r or a Predator. Myself being a small guy(5', 6"), Ill take a 450r for ergo. purposes.

 

I took my brand new stock 450r home rode it 30 minutes, woke up the next day and drove 1hour, beat 06 PRED with ported heads and slip-on 4 outta 5, put it back on the trailor and went home. The 07 450r is faster than the 05....you should have no problems unless he is twice the rider you are.

depending on who poted the head,the pred may not be any faster than stock,possibly slower.i also read a pred build up where they put in hot cams advaced the timing full header etc.and dyno it.the pred made more torque with the stock muffler.also what are the riding skills of the guy you raced.yall should have switch off for a few of the races, you may have beat him on either quad.a friend of mine was telling me about how fast this yfz450 was at the trails,the yfz450 beat him over and over i went with him the next time rode his banshee and spanked the same yfz450 over and over.come to find out it was all in the rider.i was 2nd gear hole shotin the banshee spinning clean to 5th gear and still spanked the yfz450, same one he was getting spanked by.when my buddy was racing him he was racing starting off in first gear.so i say rider has almost every thing to do with a dead stop drag race in allot of cases.not to say a 450r isnt faster or quicker than a pred maybe.

 

Stock for stock its definitely gonna come down to the rider but i firmly believe that the 450r with equal riders will win. The 450s are quicker than the pred. Thats from my experience in riding them all. But as I always say.....he who spends the most money on upgrades often wins.

 

I have an 07 450r and when I bought this at the dealer they told me it had 42hp. I think the 450 would beat the predator because it is geared high and is a lot lighter.

 

lets remember in the 2007 pro atv results KTM was not out with there XC yet and neither was can-am.....i have rode both a pred and 450r and the 450r felt a bit more powerful but i only weighed a 100 pounds at the time

 

mx/cross country riding has nothing to do with an atv being faster than another. for that its about setup/rider.
to be honest i think it could go either way....
