85 230 quad sport needs HELP

Just because it won't start doesn't mean its out of time. The spark fires on the compression and the exhaust stroke... Kinda hard to get it out of time actually.
Did you check the valve clearance? Do you have spark?

i have gas fire and compresion,it just will not fire,even put gas in the sparkplug hole.did not adjust the valves.just took the head off.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

If the intake valve is too tight, it will not start cold.
There are marks on the cam that must be level with the surface of the head when the piston is TDC. That's all there is to the timing. As long as the piston is at TDC and those marks are parallel with the head, you can't go wrong.
If all that is good, then I guess you forgot to plug up a wire or something. Maybe your kill switch is off. Gotta be something simple.

hey randy got it running yeaterday,it was the ground wire was in the wronge spot, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP. this was the first time i have a 4-wheeler, you were right it was something simple. thanks again.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]
