Default Wheel Spacers

Ok so I am looking at buying Some wheel spacers fo rmy 400ex. The kind that I am looking at are the ones that are 4 individual spacers that just screw on to the existing hub bolt. I want to go either 3-4 inches wider overall. My question is how trustworthy are these spacers?

I've heard people say you should never use that kind. I wouldn't.

I have them on mine,no problems with them but I think that the solid one piece
would be better. The individual ones must flex to some extent.

I would not use that kind for 3-4 inches... no way!

They are only good for 1-2 inches, anything more then that and you are putting too much lateral pressure on the hubs.... if you want to do 3-4 inches the only way to do it is with longer axle and A-arms.... there is no cheap way to get an extra 4-inches without risking a break or messing up the handling.

OK so I got a deal and bought the solid spacers for the front (3in) and the individual screw on spacers for the rear (also 3in). I guess i'll see how they work out. Im going riding for the weekend in about 2 weeks and will be happy to let you know how everything held up and performes if anyone is interested. Just let me know. Depending on how it goes i might buy some extended rear hubs, i found out that is the cheapest and one of the strongest ways to extend the rear of a quad. And thanks again for all the input.
