I am looking into buying a ATV. I have been riding for 1 year on my parent's ATV and I am looking into getting my own. I want something that's a little bit small and light, since I am light as well and I want something that won't get the wheels off the ground when I turn tight. I don't mind if it's an automatic or manual; or a 2 or 4 stroke. Where I live most of the trails are from old railroad tracks so they are wide and flat so I'm looking for something that can get up to or over 50 (my parent's Sportsman 355 top's at a little less than 45 and I'm at full throttle over half the time). I'm choosing between a Breeze and a Blaster. Could someone give me some help on which one to get, according to what I want? I know one's 2 stroke and one's 4 stroke and one's manual and one's automatic and they are the same price. I would have picked the Blaster first but I read that the Breeze has a few inches lower in seat height. Well thank you for your replies if I get any

name?? How about the one your parents gave you? Many people here do use that, you know
Anyway I can't call you by name cuz I couldn't spell it all" "). I wish you had given more info on yourself as to your age, height, weight. These are all important items to know when suggesting the right quad. I'm going to guess that you're about 12 to 14 since you say you're light. I would advise against the Breeze if my guess is fairly accurate. The Breeze, at 125cc, is an excellent machine for a 9 or 10 yr old with no riding experience at all. It's very easy to ride in a very casual way. It has about 3" of suspension, so no jumping to amount to any thing, & I'd guess top speed on the straight and narrow is about 40 to 45. I would definitely recommend the Blaster at the identical list price of $2929.By comparison, it has 7" of suspension front & rear. Not the best, but over twice what the Breeze has. It is a 200cc as you may know and it can really do what the name Says...BLAST! , after you get some time on it. It only weighs 320 lbs (claimed) so actually it is quite light. A six speed/manual clutch, the Blaster will give you an exciting ride for many years with tons of aftermarket options available. It would be much more fun to ride on those old railroad beds you mentioned in your post: I imagine they're from the old iron mines that used to be up there. ( I'm a transplanted Michigander from the Detroit area)
Just for info, I ride a 97 Warrior with about a page full of options every week-end at our local cycle park & I know and ride with a bunch of 12 to 14 yr old boys and girls. I've seen so many of them start out with a 90cc or 125cc & very soon after they're wanting something more suitable to their newly developed skills.
I would also recommend taking a safety course when you decide which ride you want, & get some riding gear too.

You might show this POST to your parents & see what they think. You can always e-mail me if you need any further.. always happy to help new riders.

Yeah thanks for your help. I'm 13 and I'm 5'4(?) (Somewhere over 5ft) and I only weigh 120lbs. I think I want a Blaster. The only thing is, I'm not sure I could get used to the manual transmission, though I have heard that most people either don't mind it or enjoy it once they get used to it. Is there 1 foot pedal or 2 (shifting up and down) for shifting on the Blaster? And where's the clutch? I don't know much about manual transmissions.

ICTOAN,
I was going to e-mail you all this but apparently the address you gave when you registered is incorrect & it was returned.
There is only one shifter which is on the left side & the pattern is 1 down & 5 up, neutral being between 1st & 2nd. The clutch is a lever on the left bar.
Practically all the people I know that ride Blasters are the same age as you & the same size, so I'm certain you could master a manual tranny just as they did. It takes a little practice getting the clutch & the throttle coordinated, the same as on a car, but by the 2nd day you'd have that nailed!
A manual, in my opinion, gives you complete control of your bike, engine braking, quicker response from idle,& just plain more fun being in control of what you do. That's why most if not all, serious sport bikes or quads use manual trannys & clutches. I'm sure this will get you a lot of comments from Polaris owners, but oh well .
If you want to get more input on this or other stuff, feel free to e-mail me.. your address won't go anywhere else. The next best thing to riding is talkin' about it

Name,
If I were you I'd get the Blaster. My friend had one. It was a fun Quad. It's air cooled, mixes it's own oil etc. So you shouldn't have to tinker to much. Don't worry about the shifting thing. It's a piece of cake. It's like riding a bike, once you learn you never forget. Plus learning now may help you later when you are 16. I learned at a young age on a 16 speed tractor!
Plus at 13... lets admit it, soon you are gonna want more power & the aftermarket has the mods for the Blaster.
As for the auto vs Manual thing...
I bought a Polaris because the 400 is a powerhouse and I thought it was a cool machine. I never thought I'd want an auto, but after riding my brothers old Sport I was hooked. Plus now that I have my Scrambler & beat 400EX's I find it quite funny my grandma, boring quad is faster.
All things being equal a CVT tranny will beat a manual.
However this time, manual or not I'd get the Blaster.
c-ya,

to tell ya the truth a breeze wouldn't pass 50mph if it were full throttle going down a hill. unless u wouldn't or couldn't go any higher in price u should look at the 300ex it is powerful and almost as small as the blaster. if not the 300 go 4 the blaster
