I agree with Dodge, the 400's will leave you feathering the clutch and wanting more torque. 700's aren't a "Ferrari" by any stretch of the imagination. Coming off of a 400EX (which I loved) I needed more ground clearance and more power for climbs in the sand. It was painfully underpowered though with a cam, filter and slip on with me on it.

Find yourself a used raptor, you'll love the potential. Ask the raptor guys over at raptorforum what they had before and if they would ever go back. I bet less than 10% would ever go back to a 400 or 450.

okay this might sound like a dumb question but whats the difference between the raptor 700 and the honda 700xx? what makes the raptor 700 better than the honda?

Pretty much the same power output stock for both but the raptor has a HUGE aftermarket. In my opinion the 700XX makes a better trail quad because of the IRS and ground clearance. The 700r only has ground clearance going against it, but it's one of the best quads that Yamaha has ever, and I mean EVER made.

I'm a trail guy who occasionally goes on the sand so a 700XX is right for me. (plus I'm 6'6")

gary and guys, thanks for your help I will keep a look out for a used raptor 700 or 700xx. then cause I would like my next atv to be my last atv for a while. the only problem now will be deciding which 700 to get I like the ground clearance of the 700 xx but I like the body style of the raptor better than the xx. so I will have to decide on that. but thanks again for your guys help.

For ground clearance, power and reliability go with the 700xx. I absolutely love mine. For the people that say it's too heavy...505lbs is not too heavy when you have the extra HP to compensate for it. Power to weight is near identical between the two machines at .106 for the 700xx and .107 for the 700R.

yeah the ground clearance of the 700xx is awesome my only hang up on the 700xx is I don't know if I like the body or not. it looks kind of weird. But I guess I could get use to it cause I like the honda atv's alot. I love my 250ex that I have now. and I have a question about my 250ex could I install the jet kit that I bought for it with the stock muffler or do I have to have a aftermarket muffler to use the jet kit? thanks.

A Pro Armor Pro XC bumper does wonders for the front. I installed a black one on mine and it looks awesome. Putting a jet kit on a stock machine is pretty much pointless unless you are having cold starting issues. Then a bump on the pilot jet size would be in order.

Yes I do. I tried to load them on here but I keep getting an error message. You can go to club700xx.com and look at them there. Go to the xxgarage and look for my screen name THREESVTS.
