looking to buy a sport quad 250 or 450?

I have a few questions an not trying to start a pissing contest either.I am eventually gonna get a sport quad.Ive had a highly worked banshee, currently have a polaris 400 Tb thats got carb an pipe an reeds.Ive ridden an owned a mojave my buddies v force an his raptor an yfz 450.Now the question is do i go look for a good used 250 2 smoke preferably a tecate or 250r ooorrr do I go w a newer 450?Friend said the 450 is better newer technology more reliable etc.I like the rip of the 2 strokes but I like the smooth long torque curves of the 4 smoke,I dont like the rebuild of the 2 stroke but I do know the 4 strokes specially the race 1s arent much better or cheaper Ive heard.I ride mostly agrressive trail an sometimes in a blue moon an mx practice.I love speed an handling an comfort what would you guys do?I really dont wanna spend more then 3000 grand, these new bikes are rediculously overpriced if you ask me.Then again people asking 5 grand for a 250 R when every 1 is riding 450s needs to put the pipe down 2.

For 3K you are at the lower limit of local(to my area) asking prices on the 450's. Personally, i prefer the new 4 strokes, Great handling, tons of aftermarket support, and the stock suspension is worlds better than stock 2 stroke tech. If you like snappy, the '04/05 YFZ has the most 2 stroke like power(so they say.)

I have an '04 yfz. The newer models have a bit more smooth power curve but, it's nothing like a 2-stroke. I wouldn't be too concerned with rebuilding. I've had mine going on 3 years and it's showing no signs what-so-ever of needing a rebuild.
I love my YFZ in fast trails. It handles wonderfully. My bro had a 'shee for a short while. He had a blast on the thing but, hated it in the trails.
