I was in the same situation as you about 2 weeks ago, and a DS 650 was at the top of my list for a long time. Like you, I mostly trail ride so I had to take alot of things into consideration. I eventually decided against the DS 650 for 2 reasons: first, its pretty heavy and second, it has no reverse. I do often find myself needing to use reverse when I hit a dead end. The DS 650 is more suited for the dunes, and not much else in my opinion. The Raptor 700 would be a good choice, plenty of power, efi, reverse, reliable, just don't get the 660, I hear nothing but bad things about them. As for 450s, either the Kawasaki KFX 450r or the Honda TRX 450r would be good choices, or a Can-Am DS 450 or KTM 450 or 525XC if you can find a good deal. The KTM and Kawi both have reverse, but the DS 450 and TRX 450r are light enough that you can easily manhandle them yourself. I just picked up my DS 450 last Sunday and its awesome, great power, extremely light, amazing suspension, and theres new sprockets on it so its geared perfectly for the woods. All the ones I listed are great choices, you'll be happy with any of them, just make sure you steer clear of Polaris, they stopped making sports quads for a reason, they just couldn't figure it out.

The YFZ is a great choice too, its the original 450, and its got a good, strong, proven engine. They're still very popular, I've been able to find great deals on low hour YFZs and Honda 450rs. I'm sure you'd enjoy the YFZ, the only gripe I hear is the thumb throttle's a little stiff, but thats minor. If you get one, maybe drop a tooth on the front sprocket and add one in the rear, that should bring the power to a more trail-friendly place.

Thats awesome, you will not be disappointed, I literally just came in from a ride and I'm more impressed by this machine every time I go out. It is years ahead of the other 450s, congrats on a good buy.
