Blasters are so much better than Trailblazers. Size isn't too much of a matter. I'm 6'2 and I feel fine on mine. The power is great, even stock, and it is predictable. Speed is great too. I rode a trailblazer before and it doesn't have anywhere near the acceleration of a Blaster, and it takes a long time for it to gain speed. U can't really rip it around that much either. Blasters are even good on trails too, and can go on more trails than the Trailblazer cuz there not as big. So if you want fun and great performance, then go with the Blaster. And when you grow into it, you can mod it and make it even bettrr, which is hard to do with a Trailblazer.

allright i cant comment on the actual argument here however what i can comment on is the auto vs. manual, i just sold my 2000 scrambler 400 4x4 in favor of a raptor, why one of the main things is the auto just got boring, it was like you were always in a lull, however dont take this the wrong way, i loved my polaris, had no problems at all, and i still own a 2000 trail boss they are good machines but if you are leary of not wanting the auto dont get it you cant make your self like it. oh yeah and keep bashing to a minimum please im not into it.

O.K. I'll weigh in on this "blastfest".

The Trailblazer and Blaster are two different machines. It all depends on what you want. Yes the Blaster and Trailblazer are both sport machines. Neither are high performance machines in stock trim. The Trailblazer is more of an adult machine while the Blaster is more of a kids machine.

Modified, both are in their seperate elements. The Blaster will be faster as shown by the number of them running in the 0-200cc aircooled (Blaster) class in the GNC. The without EXTENSIVE mods, Trailblazer is more of a trail cruising machine.

The Trailblazer has the more powerful STOCK motor, period. This is evident by the almost similar STOCK drag times. This is while the Trailblazer carries a 100+ pound disadvantage in weight. If you put the Trailblazer motor in a Blaster weight chasis, it would be MUCH faster than the Blaster.

The Trailblazer has a softer suspension than the Blaster. This is important to us "softbodied" adults much more so than "hardbodied" kids.

The thing I hear eternally from kids is how much faster they can go on the Blaster, when I ask how well they stop, they just kind of quiet down. The Trailblazer's hydraulic disc brakes (even though they are single lever) are far superior to the Blaster's mechanical drums and disc.

The automatic transmission on the Trailblazer is very nice for adults. It just zips up the hills with no problems. The manual transmission on the Blaster requires frequent downshifts and multiple clutch feathering to get up the same hill without tumbling down to the bottom. So if you want excitement go with the Blaster. If you want it boring, get the Trailblazer. Also most kids don't think twice about getting hernias if they have to pull their machines out of a bad situation. Trailblazer owners just put their machines into reverse. Remember kids heal from wounds faster than adults do, but most adults have the good sense not to get into that situation in the first place.

A while ago I was asked by a friend what would I recommend, the Blaster or the Trailblazer. I asked who would be riding it the most an adult or kid. This is an important question to ask as it has a bearing on what to buy. The friend said that his kid would be riding it the most. I recommended the Blaster. The Blaster doesn't have all the "creature comforts" that most of us adults crave like the soft suspension, electric start, auto tranny with reverse and real brakes. Kids don't seem to mind (or want) these things and are mostly looking to go fast. Plus I asked who his son would be riding with, Blasters of Trailblazers. My friend responded, "Blasters". I told him to still buy the Blaster as most kids out grow hop-up parts, they pass them along to their friends. Most adults are happy with what their riding amd leave their machines stock (well except for me). Finally, I told him that if I were a kid (again) and all my friends rode Blasters, I wouldn't want the stigma of being different or riding a different machine. The Blaster worked out well for him and his son.

If an adult came my way and asked "Which machine would be a good quad for me?", I'd have sent him to a Polaris dealer.

Ive had one of my Blasters since i bought it used back in '87...its got an FMF Pipe...K&N Filter...been rejeted...and i *finally* had to put a new piston in it last year! Hard to beat that kind of dependability from my point of view...plus consider that i can sell it for what i paid for it back then!!! Get a Blaster...you wont b sorry

There is no question your decision should be the Blaster.

I used to own a 1999 that would come pretty close to a stock 400 Sport.Wiseco piston(+.040), milled head(.053), HPD pipe and silencer, clutch kit, 38mm carb, port and polish, 13t front sprocket, 34t rear sprocket, oil injector block-off, K&N filter, air box eliminated)
My MX 400 Sport
ya but sport 400s are slow stock there only fast unless u have the motor done up
i raced one on my z and he took of first and i blew bye him like he was standing still it was pathtic id figure he would give me a good race since it is a 400 2 stroke vs a 400 4 stroke dont buy a polaris tb there slow my friends breaks every day
