Default A Shootout to satisfy the Masses

my latest .02

First of all these guys are DW test riders not Tim Farr of Doug Gust or any of those guys so if they are pros of some sort I'm betting you wont find any of there names on that top 100 fastest list there probably just really good riders.

Second of all if your going to have a "High Performance Shootout" the quad of highest perforamance must win or why bother.

Third of all if DW can do niche' shootout like dune shoot outs or beginner shootouts why not do an "entry level high performance shoot out"

Fourth of all how many of us a true beginners? Most guys who spend close to or more than 6k on a quad are probably at least intermediate riders.

Fifth of all like I said many times why have a criteria to judge by if your not going to use it for the final assesment anyways? Why not just pring a one or two page editorial on that group of quads and stating your opinion? Apparently the criteria has no bearing so why bother with it just tell us the opinion.

PS any of you guys get the spell checker to work? I get a pop up advertisement with no spell checker

PPS keep the logic coming RPM this is truly a great thread many people are thinking hard about it and maybe someone from one of the mags will see it somewhere.

Default A Shootout to satisfy the Masses

Magazines of any sort have liability issues to deal with and are certainly in need of cash flow. I have read all of the "shootouts" and even though I own a Z I was amsed at how they gave it the nod but then I started doing more investigating thru out various articles on pro racers and what they are using. Strangely enough most of them are still riding tricked out 250r's and then you have Doug Gust who is riding a Z at certain events. Now maybe I haven't looked hard enough but I do know that Digger is the First Pro Rider to win a MX aboard a 4 stroke which he did at Budds Creek, MD!

Not to be flaming any other quad out there but, the Z is the new kid on the block and does what the others haven't ? I think that it becomes very personal to each of us and if any of us think that A is better than B that is our right and I don't see how arguing and trashing people we don't even know is going to solve anything.

The Z by the way is not marketed or sold as a "beginners quad" and there is very good reasoning behind that from a liability issue as well as from it's performance abilities.

I also take exception that this is only a youngins sport or pass time seeing as I am close to 50 and disabled to boot I still choose to LIVE! Remember that one day you will be my age and I hope that you don't loose the courage to treat the little kid inside of you to some FUN!

You see us old farts are very crafty and have learned from a LOT more mistakes! So don't put yourself in a position to be embarresed one day when some old fart like me kicks your butt! LOL!!

Digger's quad isn't a Z it's an aftermarket quad frame with a Suzuki DRZ400 motor cycle engine. This is the engine the Z is based off of but it's no different than any other aftermarket made quad. Tim Farr won the mx points title on a CRF450r based quad last season. I think the Z is going to win titles with all it's potential but like I said Digger's isn't really a Z
