i am getting feet numbing vibes from the pegs on my 88 lt250r?
the crank bearings seem to be alright. it sounds great when it is running. whats the chance of the counter balancer key going bad?
is the only way to know for sure to tear back into the bike and check out the counter balancer? if the key is sheared does that mean you have to replace the whole unit or can i just buy the key?

If you just rebuilt it, maybe you didn't install the c.b. correctly. When I had mine built, it shook my teeth out. At my last rebuild, I did this one myself with help from the manual, I noticed the marks were off. Now the thing doesn't vibrate at all. To realign the c.b. isn't too hard.

My '86 just sheared a key a week ago. When I opened the right side up I found that the nut that holds the counter balancer gear on came loose. Which led to the key being sheared. Luckily I was just riding around the yard with my lil bro.

welp i tore into her this weekened. i wiggled the CB had a little play in and out and side to side. the key was fine and looked like new. i took out the CB bearings and they rolled great and didnt seem to have that much play at all. so i put them back in there and put it back together with no play at all. but the bike still vibrates. this is my first ZUKI i had a 250r awile back and it didnt shake at all? do all suzukis shake or should it be like my R no shakes at all? i pulled and rocked the gear connected to the crank and it dosnt move at all. im at the point im going to put it back together and just unload it. i just bought new black plastic for it too cost me $300.00 bummer... i invested to much into this bike already. bought it for 1600.00 and have a total of 2500.00 into it. what is a rough estimate to have a crank replaced from a shop?

hey don't give up yet!!!!!!!
do you have a book??? the clymer book has a pretty good photo in it (must read too) .. i had the same thing go wrong on my 92 lt . if i had my book here i would scan the pic, and send it to you.. ( i'll do it if need it) but as far as the crank... if you get it done i would get a new rod and have the pin welded.. (what i did) if you do the work it can't cost more than $75-$100. and while you have the cases split i would change the c.b. bearings they don't cost much..
now while all thats going on clean your bike and check the frame for cracks ( even the smallest crack will case a vib..) dude i went through all this before. my bike would shake sooooo bad i couldn't feel my arms ... it sucked.... oh ya when you put the key back in the c.b. put a dab of BLUE loc-tite on the threads... you don't want the c.b. coming lose when your out
(like i did 3-times) other than that make sure all bolts are tite and you should have this problem beat.......
hope this helps....................... later dude

yep i have a clymer manual.
i redid the framr when i had it apart. it had its share of cracks so i welded them up. im just avoiding the spliting of the cases hehe but i think it may have to be done.
