Jetting questions are pointless questions because it varys so much. You have to experiment and test, don't ask what we run, our situations are different.

jetting varies from bike to bike.

If you are like me and can't jet a carb to save your life, give up on it, take it to a good tuner and have it done right!

Or you can buy a K&N Jet kit, or Dyno Jet kit and save yourself a ton of time. but they are pricey at 40 50 bucks a kit!

If you need to jet for pipes and airfilters ask the company you purchased the products from

i don't know about a z400, but i just ordered a hmf pipe for my vinson today and for 20 more bucks you can get a hmf jet kit with it. bert told me it was as good as the dyno or k&n. look on bertsdirtworks and give him a call. he is very helpful and he knows a lot about 4 wheelers.

im 3 hrs from ya. try a 167.5 & 25 pilot, works great for me. if you dont have a k&n ,you should get one anyways when you add a pipe. remove your box lid (keep it with ya with a 165 jet in case its wet), snorkel, and the screen in the intake boot, should be really close, i have an lrd pipe. good luck.

IT MATTERS MOST WHAT KIND OF NEEDLE YOU RUN.

An ALBA needle takes 165 main jets and set on 3 or 4.
Dynojet needle puts out more power and you run 155 or 150 main jets (the needle puts out more fuel, it is actually the stock needle with anothr notch cut in it, this works the best.
we have 3 zuzuki 400's on on NOS all with yoshi pipes and K&N's and for 1 year we have tried everything.
the BEST is a dynojet needle and 155 main jet and on setting 4 and pilot 30 jet and that is the FASTEST SETTUP with a Yoshi header and muffler (not a slip on) and K&N airfilter with no box lid.
we beat any z400 we ever meat, and the plug is a light brown color.
We just got back from At. Anthonies and jettet leaner but it got to hot, so we went back to this setting and it ran GREAT on the bowls without a skip! and that is 5000 feet!
where we live is 1000 feet and it still runs great, so that is strange but it works great. I think this setup is perfect for 2500 feet and we are taking it to the extremes both ways, at GLAMIS they run FAST!

so, that is the first setting I would try, Dynojet needle on 4 clip, 155 main jet and 30 pilot, PERFECT.
