Here’s a few real easy and cheap ones

#1 get a K+N filter drill holes in the air box lid and go up 1or 2 main jet sizes.

#2 Shave .020” off the head.

A few fairly expensive but more effective ones.

#1 Porting

#2 Get a Coolhead or have the stock head reworked for higher compression.

#3 After market reed cage. It won’t really add much HP but will cause quicker throttle response and make it feel snappier. The 2 that come to mind at the moment are a V force and Boyeson rad valve.

With a fresh top end, pipe, K&N Filter, proper jetting w/ airbox lid removed, and 13T front sprocket. You should be able to beat your buddy on a stock Raptor, and about even to a stock Banshee. Your LT will become a different animal if you shave the head and get the porting work done, and buy yourself a bigger carb. You now can smoke your share of todays supposed SPORT ATV's.
AHH...the benefits of a bike that weighs less than a Yamaha Breeze!

How about a Paul Turner or LRD pipe?
Speaking of going fast on lt250r's, make sure you inspect your frame for cracks, I just found one on my frame and need to weld it. It is cracked right behind where the nerf bar goes across the frame. Not much room for a gusset.

Hey RUGBY, how do you like your CT engine? Is it pretty ballzy?

Heres a mod I hear very little of......a single ring, highdome racing piston from NIKS
and if you want to do some chassis mods or upgrade chassis parts go to HSD Racing. Mark can do many things for the quadracer!

I'm sure your dealer could get you one. I'm not sure you want to do that though. I say that cause you will lose some accelleration but gain some more topspeed (which takes more power to do).

Yeah, I know what ya mean, I'm 19 I don't really wanna spend too much on my '86 until I get a better payin job. Anyways........accelleration will get you outta the hole from point A to point B quicker than something geared for topspeed, in other words being quick and being fast are two different things.

Something that people forget about is to repack your silencer. Sure its loud with blown packing but there is a huge power loss with blown packing. You didn't mention packing your silencer so I figured I would give my 2 cents

Good luck
