Default Auto vs Manual

I know I started a topic on this, but wanted a few more oppinions. I own a Vinson Auto, but HATE the auto lag and I am worried about longevity because of the drags that I pull and I think it would be much more fun to ride the Manual shift in the mud and on the trail, so I am considering trading mine in for the manual. I can do it for about 400 bucks. maybe a little more. What troubles have guys with the manual shifts seen???

Default Auto vs Manual

Hey Vinson 5, I have a 5 speed vinson. I love it. I have'nt had any troble with it. Mine shifts very smooth. It has alot of power. I like to shift. The 5 speed has more power than the automatics. The only complaint I have have with it. My machine puts out alot of heat sometimes on my right leg. Does your vinson do this?

Default Auto vs Manual

hey, i have a quadrunner foot shift and i ride my grandfathers kodiak auto all the time! i go riding in very rough terrain and i ride with a guy that has a recon es and a polaris 500h.o. my opinion is that its not the auto thats doing you wrong its the machine itself. problems that i have found with foot shifts is not having full floorboards!!! debre ans rocks will hit your foot break an gear shifter! also i hit a mudhole at high speeds and i found myself getting stuck cause mud had hit my foot shift and actually changed my gear and i bogged out! i have no breaks right now cause of a rock hitting my footbreak! plus for pulling heavy loads no offence but you got the wrong machine! you need a true awd and low gear ratios and independent suspension! i would suggest a polaris sportsman for your next atv! there built solid and have the best pulling capicity and suspension plus 4wd system to! my oppinion is auto. is the way to go but limited slip 4wd and duel swingarms is not!!! i hope i help you in your quest to finding a atv suitable for you!!!
